Aider makes a major international move: Acquires Baker Tilly Denmark

In just a few years, the knowledge-based firm Aider has become Norway’s largest in accounting and business consulting. Now, they are continuing their international expansion by strengthening their presence in Denmark. “We have never been in a better position to succeed with our Northern European ambitions,” says founder and Aider CEO Andreas Vik about the acquisition.

Since its founding in 2019, the Norwegian accounting, consulting, and technology firm Aider has grown from 0 to 1,900 employees and approximately 2 billion Danish kroner in revenue. With Baker Tilly in Denmark, the knowledge firm gains an additional 180 employees and a top-line increase of around 190–200 million Danish kroner.

- We are proud to have these talented people join our team. Not only does this strengthen our delivery capabilities, but the Baker Tilly network is also one of the largest in the world in its field. This creates global opportunities that align perfectly with our international ambitions, says Andreas Vik.

Community and collaboration

Claus Bonde Hansen, who leads Aider’s Danish operations, explains that from the start, they were looking for a partner well-established in the Danish market.

- One of our key goals has been to find an established ‘anchor company’ around which we can build our own investment. We have been in discussions with around 15 companies, but Baker Tilly has always been at the top of our wishlist. Landing this deal immediately makes Aider a full-scale player here in Denmark, says Claus Bonde Hansen, adding:

- That doesn’t mean we are ending conversations with other potential partners. We are always looking for great people, and our growth here in Denmark has only just begun.

Claus Bonde Hansen joined Aider from his position as Head of Audit & Assurance at BDO Denmark. Over the years, he has trained both experienced and new auditors at the SR Academy through his roles at FSR – Danish Auditors.

- I have trained auditors from Baker Tilly before, which makes it especially exciting to work together now. We are going to cultivate community and collaboration and figure out how to be even better tomorrow than we are today,” says Claus Bonde Hansen.

A winning move

Partner and Chairman of Baker Tilly Denmark, Morten Friis Munksgaard, believes that joining Aider is a strategic winning move.

- As recently as last autumn, we developed a strategy for how we wanted to grow by leveraging the latest technology and attracting the most talented employees. Our goal was to grow by 200–500 people by 2030. Now, we may be able to achieve that in one to two years instead of five, he says.

- We will continue to strengthen our collaboration with the Baker Tilly network, while maintaining agile structures where there is a short path from idea to implementation. The goal is to provide clients with the best and most comprehensive service on the market.

Morten Friis Munksgaard and Claus Bonde Hansen are now busy planning how to make the most of this new structure.
